Questions, answered plainly

If yours isn't here, ask it on the free intro call — or just message me.

About the work

How is psychoanalysis different from other therapy?

Many approaches focus on managing symptoms. Psychoanalytic work also asks why they appear — looking at patterns, history and the parts of ourselves we don't easily see. That understanding is what lets things change, rather than just be held down.

How long does it take?

It depends on what you come with. Some people work for a few months on a specific question; others stay for a year or more. We review how it's going together, and you're free to stop at any time.

What happens in the first session?

You talk about what brought you, in whatever order it comes. I'll ask some questions to understand the bigger picture. At the end we discuss whether to continue, and how often.

What if it's not a good fit?

That's what the intro call is for. And if later you feel it isn't working, we'll talk about it openly. If someone else would suit you better, I'll help you find them.

Do you prescribe medication?

No. A clinical psychologist works through conversation and assessment; a psychiatrist is a medical doctor who can diagnose and prescribe. If medication might help, I can suggest seeing a psychiatrist alongside our work.

Practicalities

Does online work as well as in person?

For many people, yes. What matters most is a private, quiet place and a steady rhythm. Use headphones, and choose a room where you won't be overheard. If you're in Tbilisi, you can combine both.

How do you handle time zones?

The booking calendar shows times in your own time zone, and reminders arrive in your local time. If you travel or move, we simply adjust.

How do I pay?

Payment is by bank transfer (TBC) or cryptocurrency, and an invoice is available on request.

What if I need to cancel?

You can cancel or reschedule free of charge up to 24 hours before the session. Later cancellations are charged in full, because that time was kept for you. If you're going away for two weeks or more, please let me know at least two weeks in advance.

Privacy & safety

Is everything confidential? Who sees my data?

What you say in sessions stays between us, within the limits set by professional ethics and law. The booking form only asks for your name, contact and preferences — never diagnoses. Booking runs through Calendly, the scheduling service used for the intro call: what you enter is stored by Calendly under its own privacy policy and sent to me by email. I keep only what is needed to arrange and carry out our work, and remove booking details once they are no longer needed.

I'm in crisis — what should I do?

Therapy isn't an emergency service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call your local emergency number — 112 in Georgia and across the EU — or go to the nearest emergency department.

If you need help right now

If you are in Georgia, you can reach the Psychological Aid Hotline on 116 123 — free, confidential and available 24/7, in Georgian, Russian and English (Georgian Association for Mental Health). In any immediate danger, call 112. Outside Georgia, you can find a free local helpline at findahelpline.com.
